Terms of service

Effective 30 October 2026

The most important thing: only you can open your vault. If you lose both your pattern and your 12-word recovery phrase, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Keep your recovery phrase safe, and keep backup on.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Vaultmark ("we", "us") for your use of the Vaultmark app (shown as "Vault" on your phone), Vaultmark Pro and this website. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. Our privacy policy explains how the app handles data (in short: we collect none).

2. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Vaultmark on devices you own or control, for your own private use, under these terms and the terms of the store you got it from. You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app, or remove its notices.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Your pattern and recovery phrase. You are responsible for keeping them secret and safe. We never have a copy and cannot reset or recover them.
  • Your backups. Backup is optional and goes to your own cloud account. Without a backup, losing, breaking or resetting your phone, or uninstalling the app, deletes your vault for good. Check in the app that your backup is complete.
  • Your phone. Vaultmark needs a phone with a secure screen lock and works best on a phone that is not rooted or modified. It can't protect you from malware on your phone or from someone who watches you unlock it.
  • Your content. You are solely responsible for what you store. Use Vaultmark only for content you have the right to keep, and only within the law. Vaultmark has no way to see your content, and we don't monitor it.

4. Vaultmark Pro

Some features (such as more than one vault, more folders, documents and files, and app icon choices) need Vaultmark Pro. Pro is offered as a yearly subscription with a free trial, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app and in Google Play before you buy.

  • Billing. Purchases are made and charged through Google Play, under the Google Play Terms of Service.
  • Free trial. If you start the trial and don't cancel before it ends, the yearly subscription begins and you are charged.
  • Renewal and cancelling. The yearly plan renews automatically each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions; Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds. Refunds are handled by Google under Google Play's refund policies, and as required by law.
  • Lifetime. A lifetime purchase unlocks Pro for as long as we offer the app, on the Google account that bought it.
  • If Pro ends. Nothing already in your vault is locked away. You keep full access to open, move and take out everything you stored. Only adding new Pro-only items stops.

5. Changes to the app

We may update, change or stop features of the app. If we ever stop offering Vaultmark, we will aim to give notice through an app update and to keep a way for you to take your items out of your vault.

6. Third-party services

Backup uses your own Google Drive account, and purchases use Google Play. These services are provided by Google under its own terms, and we aren't responsible for their availability or for what happens in your Google account. If your cloud account is closed, deleted or taken over, your backup may be lost, although its contents stay encrypted.

7. Our intellectual property

The app, its design, name, icons and this website belong to us or our licensors. Open-source components are used under their own licences. These terms don't give you any right to use our name or branding.

8. No warranty

Vaultmark is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to make it secure and reliable, but no software is perfect. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we don't promise that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that data can never be lost.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, including data lost because a pattern or recovery phrase was forgotten, a backup was incomplete, deleted or turned off, or a device was lost, reset or damaged. Our total liability for any claim relating to Vaultmark is limited to the amount you paid us for Vaultmark Pro in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using Vaultmark at any time by uninstalling it (and deleting any backup from the app first, if you wish). We may end your licence if you seriously break these terms. Sections 3, 8, 9 and 11 continue to apply after that.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of New Delhi, India, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. If you keep using the app after a change, the updated terms apply.
